GRANITE

Care & Maintenance

Everyday cleaning of granite requires only antibacterial soap and water. We pride ourselves in the fact that we purchase only high quality and grade material. High grades of granite do not need to be sealed and will not easily absorb bacteria.

The surface of granite is not 100% non porous though, so common sense care should be applied. Wipe up spills- especially liquids that may easily stain such as red wine and beet juice. Just like with any fine furniture, Granite can benefit from a little extra cleaning.  We can provide a cleaning spray that can be used once a month to aid in this cleaning.

No surface is indestructible. As with any other stone or surface material, strong chemicals and solvents such as Drano, liquid Plummer, oven cleaners and floor strippers will damage the surface.

Although granite is very resistant to surface damage, it can be damaged by force and is not 100% chip or scratch proof.  Heavy objects hitting the edges such as the sink cutout, -may cause chips.  As well, anything that is just as hard as granite or harder- such as a piece of quartz or quartz particles in sand- or diamond sapphire and ruby rings can scratch your Granite Surface.

Note:  Innovative Stoneworks Inc. Prides itself on holding the largest in stock inventory of Natural stone products in Saskatchewan and carries other such products as:

Quartz

Care & Maintenance

Because Quartz is resistant to stains and is very non-porous in nature, it requires little maintenance other then routine cleaning involving little more than soapy water or a mild household cleaner.

Though the quartz surface can briefly tolerate moderate temperatures, it can be damaged by high and or prolonged exposure to heat .  Use a hot pad or trivet when placing a hot pan on it.

Continuous long-term exposure to direct sunlight (UV Rays) may result in slight discoloration of Quartz Stone countertops.  This is not a concern with indoor uses of Quartz though.
